Sometimes we need to take a rain check and stop to evaluate where we are. Back in January, I decided to start updating you with what’s going on in my life right now. This is different to my Happy Journal because while through that series I’m focusing on the positives and looking at life with optimism, my Currently journal is serving as an ‘anti-Happy Journal’ to document how my life is really going. I don’t want to portray myself as someone who has everything all figured out and it wouldn’t be very intentional of me to hide the bad things from you. I don’t want to dwell on the negatives but it’s just as important to acknowledge them so that you can move on without all that baggage.
I used my trusty friend, Pinterest, to help me come up with some ‘currently’ prompts in order for me to open up about the things going on in my life right now.
Reading // Right now I do not have the time to pick up a book of my own accord and I can’t wait until I finally get the time to choose a book, but I have just finished Cereus Blooms At Night for the Gender and Sexuality Module of my course and I loved it. By the end of it, I was so angry with so many characters but books that don’t conform to Hollywood endings are the best because they are far more realistic and books that don’t satisfy me are the most satisfying.
Trying // …to drink as much liquid as I can. Last summer I saved a couple of the litre / one and a half litre squash bottles and I filled one up every day, kept it with me at all times and always had it on hand. I snack out of boredom and for something to do while working, which is why I’m losing any weight. Having a big bottle of liquid at the ready next to me is helping (but not completely abolishing it, for as I write this with my bottle next to be, I am eating chocolate) me not to snack as often.
Feeling // I’m tired, but I think I’m feeling pretty good. I was panicking about all my deadlines but I’m feeling a lot calmer now and I’m working hard towards my goals.
Wanting // A new season. I know it’s not healthy to wish time away all the time and we need to learn to be satisfied with where we currently standing, but I am so ready for this university season to end. The novelty has worn off and I’m ready to begin my life in the real world and try to adult as best as I can.
Writing // I have finished my screenplay, hooray! I’ve edited it a few times, but I’m still missing a few mistakes throughout. It’s a one-hour-twenty-minute film, which is about 18,500 words, so there’s a lot to edit. No wonder I have no time to blog! I still need to finish writing my commentary and then start all of my other essays. There’s a lot to do! I know I said that this year I wanted to write 50,000 words of a writing project, but that will have to wait to be started when all of this is over!
Listening to // Deciding to pay for Spotify Premium was one of the best decisions that I ever made. I love that you can have access to so many different genres of music and don’t have to commit to buying any songs that, if you’re anything like me, you’ll play to death and then. I’m currently working on a summer playlist because I want to pretend it’s that time of year already. I might share when I’ve finished.
Faith // My faith has been… hard. I’m feeling distant from God and I’m too stubborn to sort it out. I’m meeting up with my homegroup leader on Monday and I’m ready to pour my heart out to her then.
– I bought a new theme and I love it. I also bought a font set and I think it really fits with my brand. I did both of these things a while ago, but I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned them properly. Now I’m happy with the way my blog looks with how my audience sees it.
– I usually (try to) post Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. But I honestly don’t have the time to commit to that schedule right now. I want to use my blog as a journal – as the name suggests – so I’ll still be posting my weekly Happy Journal every Monday and I adore my #FearlessFriday series. When I have someone to guest post, which isn’t every week but I’m trying my hardest, I will be sharing their testimony on my blog. I love reading testimonies and Christians all have such unique testimonies that are all so special. I love showcasing them here on THJ. If you want to get involved, and I urge you to, you can contact me here. From now on for the next couple of months, my post schedule will be Mondays and Fridays.
I’d love you to answer some of the ‘currently’ questions below; how are you doing?
