In Ten Years Time

In Ten Years Time-2

Growing up, I have always wanted to be a writer. But for a really long time, I wanted to be a vet. I love animals. But when I realised that I would have to deal blood and guts, I quickly moved on from that career idea. And then onto the next. I have always been quite indecisive. So, then, where will I be in ten years time? How can I possibly know if I’m always changing my mind?

I started watching Tanya Burr’s YouTube channel over Christmas and during one of her Vlogmas videos she launched her new blog. She writes that her blog is a good way to record her life at present and is therefore like a little memory box for her to look back on one day when she is an old lady and see where she was in life. She’ll have diary snippets, photos and tutorials. I love this idea and hope that I can recreate the same with THJ.

I feel like this type of prompt is encouraging me to make long term goals, but I already shared my yearly goals the other day and that’s enough goals for now. Instead, I’m going to speculate where I might be.

In ten years time, I will be thirty years old and will have finished my degree almost nine years ago. Thinking about that makes me a little dizzy. Really, I have no idea where I’ll be. Sometimes it’s really hard to tell where life will take you.

I’m going to make some speculations on here and hopefully, ten years later, I’ll come back and rifle through a lot of content in order to find these:

– I will be married

– I will have earned back off my blog what I spent on it

– I will have found my calling and a leadership role in my church

– I will have many pets

– I will have children?!

– I will be in a career that compliments and allows for my writing

– I will have finished one of my novels

The point to this fun, little game is does anybody actually know where they will be in ten years time? I sure don’t. Life can literally take you anywhere. We can know our own passions, desires and wishes but it can feel almost impossible to know where we will end up.

But don’t be afraid; be excited, be encouraged. The future can be what you make it. If you get up and get involved, you could go anywhere. It just takes that one risky step of faith. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Life is an adventure.

Same question to you. Where do you think you’ll be in ten years time? Do you have any long term dreams or ambitions? What are you going to do to make your dreams come true? Share with me below.

I love posts like these! I’m not completely sure where my husband and I will be in 10 years. I imagine at that point, he’s out of the military. We’ll have two children. We’ll own a home hopefully in North Carolina. Not too far from the beach. He’ll be in a career that he loves while I’m in a career that I love (ideally working for myself). 🙂

    • Ten years is such a long time, isn’t it? I hope I’ll look back on this post in ten years time and see if I achieved it.

  • I think it’s good to reflect on where you see yourself in 5 or 10 years. I loved your posts and I know you will have anything you set your mind to in 10 years! And I started my blog basically as a diary when I started. It is pretty awesome to look back, even a couple of months, and read how far I’ve come since then.

    • Thank you very much, Anali! I really want to start doing more diary type entries, I love making memories and reading them back.

  • It’s kind of crazy to think of yourself that far into the future!! I hope you are able to continue to write & that your blog will serve as the journal you wish it to be 🙂

This made me realize I will be 38 in 10 years! Crazy, don’t feel that old ha! I’ve been blogging for about 7 years and it is interesting to look back at my old posts.

    • That’s so cool! I wonder how much you’ve changed. Imagine all that you’ve learnt since then!

  • I don’t even want to think about 10 years from now. 35?! Ahh!! So interesting to write out where you think you’ll be and compare it to where you’re at once you hit that point. I hope you’re able to achieve all that you want to in the next 10!

  • 10 years from now… so scary! I’ll almost be 33! Haha I have no idea where I’ll be but I’m excited to go along for the ride and find out.
