February Goals

Can you believe that one month of 2017 is already over? That went so quickly I had barely enough time to blink. But I’m glad February is here. A fresh start and all that.

February Goals 2017

It’s a little late but I’m finally sharing my goals for February. Firstly, I’m going to revisit my January goals.

JANUARY GOALS REVISITED

GET A JOB

I’ve been applying for jobs on almost every week day and I must have handed in close to 30 applications this month. I’ve had a couple of interviews and I didn’t get anything yet but I’m not giving up. I’m going to keep going with what I’m doing and just remember that this isn’t going to happen overnight.

ESTABLISH A DAILY ROUTINE

I’ve got a list of things I want to get done daily and I’m in the process of making it into a schedule. Once I’m happy with that, I’ll be working on making it into a routine.

SELL OLD CLOTHES ON DEPOP

Nope. This did not happen. I’m going to roll this goal over to February.

ESTABLISH PLANS FOR MY SOCIAL MEDIA CHANNEL

Yes! I made schedules and they are printed out, laminated and in my blogging folder. I’m happy with the work-load I’ve given myself and I do think they will help me grow but what I really want to do now is research and then strategise.

REACH 300 FOLLOWERS ON INSTAGRAM

Yes! I smashed this goal within the first week of my January Goals post going live and although my follower count has been pretty stagnant since then, I’m still over my target which is great. I’ve been improving my photography and I’ve still got a way to go if I want to see myself grow on this platform, but I’m happy with how my feed is looking right now.

UTILISE THE SPACE IN MY MOOD DIARY

Nope. I decided how to make use of the space in my mood diary, but I didn’t log any of my moods this month. I want to start writing down how I feel and brain dump regularly to free up some mental capacity.

Hello, February! Here's to a new month and a fresh start! 🙌🏻

FEBRUARY GOALS

GET A JOB

Self-explanatory but this is going to be an ongoing goal until I get one.

WRITE MORE CONVERSATIONAL POSTS

My all time favourite posts are the monologues. Posts that don’t necessarily promise self-help or recommend products or places (although I love those too) but just simply chat. The bloggers chat about what’s been going on in their lives so that their readers can learn a little more about them. I want to document what kind of frame of mind I’m in or how I feel about a particular subject now so that I can look back and see how I have changed. I’m all for expressing an authentic voice online so I’m hoping that this month you’ll get to know me in a deeper way.

REACH 500 FOLLOWERS ON INSTAGRAM

I have really found peace with the way that my Instagram is going and growing right now. There are still things I want to work on for sure, but for now my strategy works and it’s helping me get more engagement. If you’d like to help me out, you can find my profile here and I’d love for you to come and introduce yourself!

POST MORE SELFIES/PICTURES OF MYSELF

Hear. Me. Out. I’ve found that part of delivering an authentic voice is to let your readers know who you are. Before this post on the 27 January, I hadn’t posted a picture of myself (properly, excluding a shot where my face is behind a camera and a group shot) since October. That is a really long time for people to not see my face when they are trying to get to know me. I’m also going through a whole thing about learning to love the body I have, and taking photos of myself is helping me with my body confidence.

SELL OLD CLOTHES ON DEPOP

I explained this goal in more detail last month and because I want to be more intentional, I’m going to roll this goal over until I complete it. Joel is currently on garden leave as he transitions to a new job so I’m going to employ him to help me take all my photos.

NO SPEND FOR TWO MONTHS ON MAKE UP AND ANIMALS

I have two obsessions when it comes to spending my money (actually, that’s three but we won’t talk about my love for food right now): buying make up, and buying things for my small animals. As you may know by now, I left my job back in December to try and find something more closely related to my degree and I’m still unemployed. While I’m trying to limit my spending habits, I’ve had to put a stop to buying things I don’t absolutely need. I’m going to put this ban on for two months and I’ll treat myself (and my furry friends) in April.

Do we share any of the same goals this month? Tell me some of yours!

  • Love your goals, lady! I agree, you should show your face more! We want to see the woman behind the blog! xo

  • Somehow, I feel kinda guilty because although I’m unemployed, I’m not very keen of getting a job. I kinda hate the 9-to-5 thing. But I hope you’ll get a dream job any time soon.

    • I’m not very keen on it either haha but unfortunately I’m not in a position not to! Thanks for stopping by x

  • Girl, job-hunting is no fun at all! I hope you find something soon. Don’t get discouraged though. God always has a perfect timing (even when we hate waiting haha).

    • Thanks, Kristen! I KNOW. It’s so frustrating but I just have to trust that the right thing will come up in time xx

  • Shani Ogden

Great goals! I like the one about putting pictures of yourself on IG more. I think I read somewhere that you should try to include pictures of you at least every 7 posts. I think this probably varies depending on the type of blog you run but I’ve noticed I get better engagement all around when I include myself in the pictures.

    • That probably sounds about right! The more you post pictures of yourself, the more engagement you are going to get, and then hopefully more followers, so you’ll need to reintroduce yourself again!

  • I love how organized you are with your social media schedules! I really have to do something like that.

    • Thanks, Becky. It’s been so useful and gives me something to follow when I’m feeling uninspired.
