Style Freedom Hair Products First Impressions

Hello, everyone. It’s Monday!

Anyone else got a four day week thanks to the Easter weekend? I am beyond grateful that I’m in a job that means I have the national holidays off to spend time with my friends and family. And hasn’t the weather recently been lush? Apparently, it’s going to get colder so we’ve made the most of it. I even got burnt this past weekend.

A few weeks ago, I received a very exciting email.

I was lucky enough to be asked if I wanted to be on the Superdrug Beauty press list! Of course, I said yes! I absolutely love Superdrug as they stock a really wide range of cruelty-free products and I’m obsessed with beauty products. This was such an exciting opportunity and it was the first time a PR company has reached out to me. The reason they emailed me was because I posted on Instagram about their skincare brand that I recently tried. It’s SO cool that my hard work with taking good quality photos and writing content has paid off! I feel like I’ve finally made it as a blogger and I am so grateful.

So in my PR package, I was sent some new hair products to try out and share my views on them with you. Knight & Wilson are a hair care brand exclusive to Superdrug which have currently got two ranges: Colour Freedom and Style Freedom. Plus, they confirmed to me via Twitter that they are in fact cruelty-free which is a huge win! So thrilled to hear that.

Style Freedom, the range that I was sent, follows a unique four-step system to help everyone create their perfect hairstyle. The idea is that you pick a product from each section to create your perfect look.

The products are grouped into four steps, and you simply select your perfect product from each step to give your hair the help it needs to look it’s very best. Foundation; creation; finish; revival.  This four step process is similar to a salon approach, setting out the order products should be used. I just wanted to say here that I didn’t use all four of these products at once, but individually, as that’s the kind of hair routine I’m used to. You can use them either way!

Today I’m sharing my first impressions of these products and I’m letting you know if they worked for me. Disclaimer: not every product worked for me, but that doesn’t mean it won’t work for someone else! All opinions are my own and I’m just being honest.

This is by far my favourite product of the four that I got to try. I have really thick hair that is so prone to getting knots, and once I got myself a Tangle Teaser, the game changed. But this stuff really is the bee’s knees. After a shower, it usually takes around 10 minutes instead of 30 to brush all of the knots out of my hair. But with the Style Freedom Detangler, it takes 5. Not only that but it’s a leave-in conditioner and smells incredible. I’ll definitely be repurchasing it once it’s run out because I think it will be great to take on holiday this year – the knots of terror I get after going in the sea is going to be much easier to tackle!

I had really high hopes for this product… and it’s ok. The waves I created weren’t mer-mazing but it did make my hair less flat. In all fairness, I haven’t spent a huge amount of time trying to create beachy waves and my hair is very naturally straight (I find it difficult to hold curls without 3 cans of hairspray) so it may just not be working for me. I am still yet to use it on wet hair, as you can use this spray on both dry and wet hair, so that may give me a better result. Again, it smells incredible and it’s not sticky once it dries.

I loved the idea of this but this product did not work for me at all, which is disappointing. I wanted to try it because I wanted to add some extra shine to my hair but it made it look so greasy. It works better if you use it in the body of your hair, rather than on your scalp as I had a huge disaster with spraying it too close to my head just after I washed my hair. It is quite oily but it does make your heart shiny so I still have hope for this product. I think you only need a sparing amount to get results so I’ll try it again.

I tend to use dry shampoo as a ‘day before hair wash day’ fix, so I can’t comment on the use of it for boosting volume, but for me, this product delivers. It definitely helps to make my hair look clean and grease-free. When I had my disaster with using too much of the Pure Shine, I used this and it completely neutralised the oils sitting in my hair! Winner!

Out of these products I’ve tried, I loved two of four of these, and if I can get the Beach Body Spray to work, it’ll be solid three out of four. As I’ve mentioned above, just because I didn’t love some of these products, doesn’t mean that they aren’t going to work for you! We all have different hair types.
